Same problem here. I have 32 bit Jaunty Alpha 4 running and if I change to any effects through the appearance manager,it says 'looking for appropriate drivers (or something to that effect)' , the screen flickers, and then no windows title, no minimize, maximize, close. The buttons are still there, and they work, they just don't display. Probably something to do with compiz display (windows decorations?)... I have had this going on for a few days, and after reading this and changing back to no effects, I get my upper window icons and titles back. I am fully updated as of an hour ago.
