I'm using Ubuntu 8.04 with the 2.6.24-21 x86_64 kernel.
I'm burning an audio CD with Brasero, and as soon as the actual burning
started, everything on the system has started to lag. The USB mouse, the
touchpad and keyboard, and also things like AWN and desktop switches with

using a lot of CPU for just burning a CD, but there was also enough room
