I had the bug that yours was a duplicate of, but I found out what the problem was. I'm guessing that you installed gfxboot-grub, the 64-bit version? One person offered this advice: http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=5479334&postcount=622 But I guess I never tested that, because, as I think we found out, that doesn't work. So as per the next post http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=5480927&postcount=623 I just installed the 32 bit version from the original post and the kernel was set up correctly. I hope this helps.
