I'm attaching a copy of /var/log/syslog, which has a copy of all the
failure messages. In the case of the 3rd failure, I still had my GNOME
session. In the first 2 failures, I got dropped to some text display
and had to power cycle.

@Christopher: I'm not sure I understand your question. I discovered the
problem on Oneiric (3.0.0-23-generic #39 kernel) last night. I've got

reproduce the failure on any of them. But this particular box has never

The next oldest kernel that I have is 3.0.0-22.36. That did not crash,
but Nautilus died with a series of "bad page map" errors.
I also tried the 3.0.0-20.34 and 3.0.0-12.20 kernels. The -20 kernel
failed with "unable to handle kernel paging request". With the -12

I'll give the Lucid CD image a try, though if it fails to reproduce I'm
not sure what conclusion can be drawn. I'm only able to reproduce the
problem with the GNOME session (GNOME shell). I don't see the problem

I'm afraid I was unable to reproduce the problem with the Lucid

I've also noticed that I cannot reproduce the problem if the CD is in

it to mount, eject th

It depends on which process the failure was detected in.
If it's Nautilus, I just have to do something to restart Nautilus (e.g.,
click on Activities and run Nautilus from the Favorites bar). And if I
don't really need Nautilus at the moment, I

I don't get an oops, but Nautilus dies with the "BUG: Bad page map"
error (syslog attached).
