I'm afraid I was unable to reproduce the problem with the Lucid (10.04.4) liveCD.
I've also noticed that I cannot reproduce the problem if the CD is in the drive and mounted when I suspend the computer. OTOH, I can reproduce the problem if I put the CD in the drive, wait for it to mount, eject the CD, suspend the computer, resume the computer, and then put the CD back in the drive. Latest syslog is attached; see the BUG messages starting at 11:20:17. (Again, this is with GNOME shell, not Compiz/Unity.)
