Just a further note that the initial machine I reported this on turned
out to have a totally trashed IDE controller. I tried reformatting /
reinstalling and nothing worked. I took the drives out and used them in
USB enclosures and 1 had been fried.

The crash still happens with xorg 1:7.4~5ubuntu12. Xorg.0.log shows some
different addresses, but otherwise the startup and backtrace are the
same. Trying to run it in the debugger now.

The crash is in the wacom driver. I didn't find a debug package for it,
so I don't know where exactly. It prints several errors about not being
able!
After removing the wacom sections from my xorg.conf, gdm started
normally and I was able to log in again. So yay, workaround! I've never
had a wacom

I have a very similar problem on x86_64, gnome-keyring 2.25.92-0ubuntu1.
Sometimes when I log in gnome-keyring-daemon is hung using 100% cpu.
Sometimes it works for a while, then hangs when asked for a key by an
ssh invocation. I've only had the problem since upgrading to jaunty last
week.

I'm aware of that. I thought the hang in poll() would be useful
information even if you didn't have a symbol table for the package.
Is there a package with debug information I can install? Otherwise I'll
try to build a version myself and see if it happens again.

Same problem. All USB devices (mouse, external hard disk etc) are powered on
after system shutdown. Windows shutdown turns all USB devices off.

I have a similar problem when copying lots of files to my new Western Digital
Passport 2 USB external hard disk.
Progress stops within a minute and the progress bar freezes. The progress
dialog does not respond and I can't cancel it.

I had this problem when launching Thunderbird from the menu, but not from the
command line.
Running Thunderbird in safe-mode solved the problem, and I tracked down the bug
to the Lightning extension by disabling the extensions and re-enabling them one
by one.
The strange thing is that after usin
I have what could be a related issue, where the text appears to be wrapped back
over itself.
I think the text is the same or similar to that in Daniels screenshot, but with
one line of text superimposed over another.

For some reason Thunderbird now crashes with a segfault on startup, where it
crashed silently before. Thunderbird seems reliable with the Lightning add-on
disabled.
Fingers crossed the (Mozilla) release version of Lightning 1 will solve these
issues..

Thunderbird hasn't crashed since disabling Lightning, so it does seem
that while the symptoms are the same, I'm experiencing a different bug.
My last post was meant to be informational, rather than a request to re-

I eventually discovered my old notes deep in a hidden folder. I can't remember
the location, but I think it was somewhere under ~/.local
Copying the notes over to the .gnote folder brought them back.
