I have now tried the final Gutsy, and alas, the problem is still there.
So far I've only managed to get system freezes, no crashes (did you guys
change anything?). However, the freezes happen far too frequently for
Gutsy to be viable (the system doesn't seem to last more than a few

related. After all, this same card worked "perfectly" with the Breezy,

What if the bug is in the kernel and not in the nv driver? I say this
because if I'm on one of the virtual consoles (say, F2) while the
freezes occur, I see a kernel backtrace and the kernel panic message

I didn't install any plugins, and "about:plugins" confirms that.
As for the addons, uninstalling Firebug and the Developer Toolbar didn't
make any difference: Firefox would still crash at the slighest breeze.

Concerning mounting flash drives with "sync" as default, in my view this
should only be done *until* the underlying problem is corrected. Using
"sync" is not really solving the problem, it's just camouflaging it.
Bear also in mind that we are talking about a regression here: this
worked perfectly

This is actually *quite serious* since it can lead to loss of data.
To prevent it, either manually unmount the drive in the console
(umount waits till all the data is flushed) or run "sync" to explicitly
flush the data.

of a 16GB eMMC drive. The bug is that KDE's device notifier shows this
