Public bug reported: Binary package hint: linux-image-generic
I get *very* frequent kernel panics on Gutsy -- the system is so unstable it is nearly impossible to use! They seem to come in two major varieties: "not syncing - fatal exception in interrupt" and "not syncing - attempted to kill the idle task". I will be attaching a couple of screenshots of each variety, plus the output of dmesg and lspci. Please tell me if you require more info. Three important things to note: 1) I was previously running Edgy, so there's a chance these problems were introduced in Feisty (I did try Feisty for a few days, but it was so unstable I was forced to go back to Edgy). 2) This is unlikely to be a hardware problem, since Edgy was running fine. 3) My CPU is an AMD Athlon XP. Could there be an incompatibility with linux-image-generic or the new virtualization stuff? ** Affects: linux-meta (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- [gutsy] Frequent kernel panics https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/155757 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
