I'm also having problems with ehci_hcd, though on different context (see https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/282783 for full report). The only solution I found was to "rmmod ehci_hcd". It then works, though of course limited to USB 1.1 speeds.
