I'm testing with v3.4-rc6-precise currently.
On battery, using built-in WiFi, it is still freezing randomly.
I would say that it freezes rather when I'm browsing the web.

Sadly, I tried both rc3 and rc4 with and without Wifi, and my Hp NC6400

I also guess that the kernel has some smart behaviour when on battery,

@Jason St. JohnComp: I copied a comment from bug #656745 where I replied
to a person named "aspera", sorry for the confusion. Bug #656745 seems
to be sort of a duplicate to this one. Anyway, thanks for your feedback.

What is aspera? The Latin for "hope." It's some high-speed file
transfer software. But I'm stumped to see that word here. Jost Menke,
what do you mean?
Now on my second day after installing the kernel whose .deb you linked
to (HP Compaq nc6400, Ubuntu 10.4), and so far the old symptoms have

and install it (simply double click on the file and follow the instructions).
Afterwards, reboot and check if the problem persists.
Up and running off PSU for much longer than ever before. I would guess
that the bug is fixed with this patch; I'll report if I turn out to be
wrong. Thanks to those who put this togther, I now have a laptop.

Please test mainline kernel 3.4 RC2 and report back:

Not 100% sure if this fixes the problem for me, I only tested a couple
of hours now (without freezes). But it definitely fixes some issues I
had with my builtin Intel 3945ABG wifi.
After some more testing, unfortunately the problem still occurs on my
device aswell, even with 3.3-rc7. Sorry for raising up hopes here.
