Sadly, I tried both rc3 and rc4 with and without Wifi, and my Hp NC6400
still freezes. I guess there is some non-compliant electrical behaviour
in it.

I also guess that the kernel has some smart behaviour when on battery,
and that this behaviour is too smart for my laptop. How can one disable
it without disabling all the ACPI subsystem?
