I've tested with 3.2.0rc4. It still freezes, but not the same way. It freezes "more slowly" (reproduced 3 times). At first, I can move the mouse, but the clicks and the keystrokes fail. Some background applications still operate (I could see a blinking cursor on a gnome-terminal), but there is no way to interact with them.
However I can switch to the text mode consoles (Alt+Ctrl+F1 or F2...). Sometimes I can type in, but I does not last long (just the time to type my login, no chance to type the password - If I ever get the password prompt). At this point, I could use SysRq.
