Well, yes. The search command by itself is correct. However, I'm not
sure what it does, but when it's included in the grub entry, it causes
the kernel to panic. So, something is most definitely not right here.

All right! I got and installed the 2.6.32-020632 i386 kernel. I
restarted, and reinstalled ath5k through compat-wireless-2010-01-27, and

I just upgraded to Ubuntu 9.10 from 9.04 and realized that the wireless
no longer worked in 9.10. After troubleshooting, I found that the
proprietary madwifi drivers were left out of Karmic in favor of the
ath5k drivers. In Jaunty, I had to enable the madwifi drivers in Jockey
I've tried it in the LiveCD, and I haven't gotten any more problems with

I'm also having this problem with a D-Link DWL-G520 card, which was
supported perfectly with the atheros chipsets before I installed
Intrepid. My Hardy install worked just fine with the network. Now, when
I try to connect to the network, it prompts me for my password. I select
the ASCII passphrase
I can confirm this behavior on Ubuntu Hardy xchat 2.8.4-0ubuntu7.
Though, interestingly enough, it was reproduced the first time on my
machine. And all other times after, the window properties were

Also have this bug. Also running edgy. When I burn mp3s, I get to a
place behind the first line in the progress bar, then Serpentine
freezes. When I run Serpentine -d, I get the output that's in the
