Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus
I'm using Ubuntu Gutsy and Nautilus version 2.20.0-0ubuntu7. It seems that whenever I open a folder that contains music (mp3 or ogg), Nautilus all of the sudden becomes unresponsive and I have to force it to quit. This occurs every time I open a folder which has music in it. Because of this problem, making changes to ~/Music is something that must be done via the command line, which is much more inconvenient. STEPS TO REPRODUCE: 1. Open Nautilus. 2. Navigate to a folder which contains music (ideally ~/Music) 3. Nautilus freezes and you're must force it to quit. WHAT SHOULD HAPPEN: 1. Open Nautilus 2. Navigate to music 3. Nautilus should not freeze, and nautilus should be able to be used normally for manipulating files. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: This problem could be found on this Ubuntu Forums thread, along with a workaround: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=598231 To work around this problem, open Nautilus and go to Edit>Preferences>Preview tab. Then where it says "Preview Sound files:" set it to "Never". When song previewing is disabled, Nautilus works as expected. ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- nautlius freezes when viewing music https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/187491 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
