A possible workaround, when this happens, is to change the rendering
backend for the compositor. I have tried switching from OpenGl 3 to
OpenGL 2, and that seems to fix the issue for me.

I just noticed that I'm affected by the same problem. I also have a HP
pavilion laptop. As the OP said, removing and replacing the battery with
the power cord connected resets the battery type to the correct Li-Ion.

When I first plug in the modem (syslog_1), the GSM modem first claims
ttyUSB0 and then ttyUSB2. When I try to connect (syslog_2) modem-manager

get a connection with it. I've tried on two computers, one with 9.10 and
one with 10.04.
On the machine with 10.04, I have kernel 2.6.32-22-generic, and I also

I just tried switching from nvidia to nv in xorg.conf, and it didn't

I still haven't found the script that makes this happen, but a quick
workaround is to switch terminals. Press ctrl+alt+f4 (for example) and
then switch back to the graphical terminal with ctrl+alt+f7.
Let's hope feisty fixes this.

Just for your information, I'm think I'm on my way to find the cause of
the problem. I think it is one of the daily cron scripts. What I've done
now is that I mode all files from /etc/cron.daily another directory.
Since then, the problem has not occured. Now i'm moving one script per

a FAT32 partition. Files that I have deleted are noticed as missing, but
