Which release(s) is this fix released for? This is still broken for me
on 17.04 and the 2017-08-02 snapshot of 17.10. Currently I'm working
around it by manually compiling and installing an updated version of the
driver from the realtek website.

So it looks like this bug was triaged a long time ago. It's still
present in Lucid. Has there been any progress? This really should be
fixed in time for Lucid. You need to stop treating KDE users as second
class citizens.

@hasi, this was working when I installed Alpha 4, it is a regression. I
had to wait for years for desktop effects to work on Intel cards, it
absoultely should work correctly. Suspend probably will work without
effects, but I want them on, and this was working perfectly before some
update broke it.
I've attached a screenshot showing the problem. Kwin is still running
(according to `ps aux | grep kwin`) and alt-tab still works. However the
window decorations are gone and so is plasma. This bug makes suspend
pretty much useless.
