Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: initscripts

Yesterday I upgraded all packages on my system with "aptitude dist-
upgrade" now I can't boot because the init scripts try to mount my
encrypted home and swap partitions _BEFORE_ cryptsetup is run. I had
crypttab configured to use a keyfile, but the problem persists when I
changed it back to prompt for passwords. With /home and swap not
commented out in fstab the system hangs in early boot. If they are
commented out then I can boot but then /home and swap are not auto
mounted. Once the system is up I can manually mount them because the
init system has run crypt setup. I think this may have something to do
with the work that has been done to speed up boot. The cryptsetup stuff
has _INCORRECTLY_ been pushed further into the boot sequence, after X
starts. I can't use LVM because then I will lose barriers and ext4
behaves incorrectly with out barriers.

This bug is a _SHOWSTOPPER_!!!! It _MUST_ be fixed before the release.
I can't believe something this catastrophic occurred int the BETA time
frame.

I am running...
Kubuntu Karmic 9.10 Beta (installed from alpha 4 media but kept up to date)
AMD64

on a...
Dell Laditude E6400
Intel GMA 4500 GPU
80GB Intel X-25 SSD
4GB RAM

** Affects: sysvinit (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
