There are apparently "tweaks" but I've not heard anyone report that
these supposed "tweaks" work. I'm currently having a preview of Netsape
6.0 Pre-Release, however it has absolutely NO Java support (or

Get over it! I have my own script. I run a 64MB memory cach and a 512MB
disk cache not to mention my ISP's own proxy...I just kill Netscape and
start again...the majority of crap except for the through traffic gets
taken off relatively local parts of the Internet[work]
I disagree. Using ./configure and make on a source distribution
discovers many more errors that RPM can simply miss or gloss over. Each
to one's own I guess...such is the power of Linux.

where all you did was mount /mnt/cdrom; rpm -Uvh /mnt/cdrom/*.rpm AND a

I have an Athlon on an MSI-6167 board, I740 Video Excel AGP card, stock
standard IDE hard drives and two CD (one ROM, other RW/RECORD). I have
had absolutely no problems, in fact I simply clicked in my hard drive
and Linux booted without a glitch...Windows on the other hand required

It is Java causing the problem. If you go to the CLI where you started X
you may very well find that Netscape complains about the Java having a
bad ELF header or worse. There is a fix which doesn't work...something
to do with the font path.

K6-III running at 450MHZ. I used to run an AMD K6-II @ 366MHZ with an

opposed to the command prompt to verify the user. Try, as root, to edit
the /etc/inittab file. Change the default run level from 5 to
3...there's annotations in the file to verify I'm not telling you to

The Special Edition "Using Linux" by Macmillan - latest version ships
with RH 6.0 publishers edition as well as Caldera OpenLinux - is really
quite useful. Furthermore it describes another linux and although it may
sound quite crazy being able to compare two linuxes

gnome/X that comes with RH 6.0 is slightly broken. I used to use it and
although my problems weren't half as sever as yours, october-gnome has
fixed all of them (except the font problem which I fixed myself).

october-gnome. Everything worked fine. I then downloaded gtk+-1.2.6 and
