Rooting is when two people have sex. It normally refers to the male appendage being inserted into the female genitals although it can often refer to the whole act. Furthermore in slang, it is a term for destroying something and/or generally making it unusable or broken. Routing, on the other hand, in the computer context is a process whereby packets of information are directed to a particular destination via a certain course. Think of routing as traffic control...one car decides it wants to get to some destination and chooses the best course or route to get there.
