The local school recently bought a cheap digital camera, a digipix axis
from Hanimex Australia. Comes with some kids software 'fotobee' for
windows. The idea is a cheap simple camera the kids can use then upload
the image to the school PC's for projects.
Seems to be a local Australian product? t
Thanks Steve and all...
The Xserver I got from SUSE (and XFree 3.3.6) work fine in 16 bit. No
problems that I can see, so that's good enough... There is still a
slight problem with 24bit, but not _that_ serious (unless you want WP8).
I'm happy enough with 16 bit (unless I change it to run the fr

Thanks for getting back. Would that XFree 3.3.6 be any different from

Okay, sorry, I can get 1024x768 in 24 bit... It appears not to handle 32
bit, but 24 is fine for me...
BIG problem is the NS toolbar icons are B/W and ugly. More critical are
the WP8 icons which are just crap... How is it that things like that get
screwed while the rest is generally okay?

Hi.
Trying to get X working with Open PT80 video (SiS 6326). It's listed as
supported by XFree-SVGA, (I have 3.3.5) but doesn't seem to be 100%
Okay, so it will 'work' to some extent. Seems to be useable (but far
from perfect) at 24 bit and 800x600. Other modes are a total wipeout.

I have 3 PC's, no hub at all. Just use rg58 coax as all i wanted
I have 2 1996 vintage PC's with the Award 4.51 BIOS. One boots fine (has
the better looking MB) while the other wouldn't boot this morning. It
hung with some sort of floppy drive not found error. Could be a
coincidence that something else went wrong, and disabling the boot from

This is what I was getting...
Try removing or commenting out the ttfont directory line from
/etc/X11/fs/config
and do a

For me at least...
Okay, so it seems that xfs is flakey and ttmkfdir is not 100%, but can
work... (oh and apparently I'm using Mandrake Helios)
The big problem (in my case) appears to be blank spaces in the font
names!!! This was only a problem after running ttmkfdir. If the spaces
are removed
Ooops, I'm a dummy...
Okay, so my xfs was not running, so of course I was having X startup
problems... I thought I checked that...
Okay, so xfs won't run unless I comment out the ttfont directory entry
in the /etc/X11/fs/config file - so that seems to be where the problem
is... At least now I n

This is what I was looking for... What confused me was that the original
/dev/cdrom doesn't seem to point to anything so I

The ttmkfdir seemed to work okay, but restarting xfs totally cracked up
the Xserver and left me out in the cold :-)
Seriously, the Xserver went down and I couldn't restart, kept getting

Hi, full of questions today...
Not sure how to add TT fonts with RH6.x With 5.2 and xfstt it was just
a matter of adding them to the directory and running a couple of
commands, but I don't see any info on how to do this on 6.x
Anyone point me to a FM...
thanks,

Okay I've done this before and had it all working on 5.2, but I've
forgotten how to get the cd player working with scsi-emu...
I've compiled the kernal and I have xcdroast going okay, the cdrom drive
is fine, etc, but just no cd audio play... I know it's simple, but I'm

What XFree server are you running? What video card? Check what
/usr/X11R6/bin/X is linked to - eg XF86_S3 in my case,

I used to agree with that, but I'm too damn forgettful. I have a bad
habbit of hitting the power switch before thinking about it when I see a
blank screen. After doing that a couple of times I got to like a
screensaver :) Something si
Hi.
I woke up to some strange problems with my linux box. I have a feeling
there are a couple of simultaneous and unrelated problems (murphy's law)
so I don't know where to start :)
The machine multi boots (with boot manager) 95, OS/2 and RH4.2. It
spends most of the time in RH, in fact was up
