The fglrx driver is closed source. AMD have to provide one for for each

I noticed fglrx-driver has been removed only from the jessie repos. Any
reason why?
I updated some packages on my debian wheezy 7 (64 bit) using the command
apt-get -u upgrade and after a reboot, I was on a blank screen. So I booted
into recovery and ran startx, which was again a blank screen.
So I uninstalled the fglrx drivers and I was able to boot back on gnome.
But now the

installation of the Radeon Catalyst control panel, which allows you to
control the video card settings, is the exact point it happened. Can

Like too often, the problem comes from proprietary drivers. I have to use fglrx,
because i often do 3d work. The problem is, the fglrx module for dkms doesn't
compile with 3.10.x, and therefore i can't have DRI (which depends on this
module) which i need for my 3d work.

Yesterday's update included the non-free fglrx driver. At least
I think that is what is causing iceweasel to erratically blacken/erase/wipe
many of the pages.
Are others experiencing this? The browser has become almost completely
unusable.
Or was there some other update affecting the br

In the subject line you talk about ATI fglrx. So what graphics card do
you have?

I have looked for info on this but haven't found any. Since a couple of
days I can't boot X anymore with my usual nvidia drivers setup. All I
get is a blank screen with no way out, not even CTRL+ALT+Fn. My system
is testing, updated daily.
Is there any known issue causing this?
Thanks.

I don't. But I have use the `radeon' driver with compiz. Have you
tried it? It's better for your karma and won't suffer from those kinds
of problems you're experiencing.

I upgraded my machine at work today, and among other things that were
installed, aptitude upgraded the kernel (linux-image-2.6.32-5-amd64) as well
as the fglrx packages. I had the 9-11 held, but aptitude upgraded it anyway.
And with the combination of packages, I was no longer able to roll back to

running Sid's fglrx at the moment and they seem fine, glxinfo and fglrxinfo
doesn't spit any error, xorg logs doesn't contain errors, and the few OpenGl
stuff I just tried are working fine (namely "Torcs" and "xmoto").

Agreed. Specifically, the fglrx driver. I don't have problems with nvidia,
but when fglrx-9-12 came out, it broke compiz, so I reinstalled 9-11, and
put it on hold. I
