I don't care about the ATI package, only the Debian one.

From what I recall during installation there is a "show terminal output" 
or similar. Anyway, for our purposes it should help to copy-paste the 
output from running as root 'dpkg-reconfigure fglrx-modules-dkms' in a 
terminal.
