I've been trying to get the mentioned kernel to run on my machine (potato
2.2r2).
I've tried it the debian way (make-kpkg,...) and the normal way (make dep,
...).
I always end up with the kernel properly installed, all modules created, BUT
the file /lib/modules/2.4.0-test11/modules.d

configured it with `make menuconfig` compiled it with `make-kpkg clean

Quota support into the kernel, and everything else seems to work fine, but
rpc.quotad locks when it tries to load (just sits there after executing it).

are needed to do so and i compiled all from source for a Debian 2.2r2
system. Here are the recompiled packages (apt-get-able):

Just curious if there is something different with the latest test kernel? I was
running test10 and decided to try out test12 with a fresh potato -> woody
install. I've compiled many kernels, but this latest time I have run into a
little snag. Seems my modules do not work. I have done a

necessary options when I was compiling the kernel. I needed to select
the PPP_ASYNC option or something like that.

I finished a fresh debian installation (woody) with kernel 2.4.0-test9
(tested
in various configurations) and 2.2.17 + pcmcia (latest release)
All the installation is on a laptop with pcmcia support enable for my 2
eth's.
The situation of my network is like this:

modconf will not work at all so if you rely on it to select boot-time
modules, you are going to have to edit the modules files by hand. Note
that modprope works fine ... just the Debian modconf script can not handle
the structure of the new /lib/modules/`uname -r` directory in 2.4
