I changed the netcard and reset the cablemodem and ready!
I've a IP address via dhcp...
Now I'm solving problems of configuration in ipchains and squid.

Foolish me: I'd been happily running ssh 1:2.2.0p1 on my Potato
system, and then I upgraded to ssh 1:2.2.0p1-1.1. (I got both of
those versions from "unstable".) Well, that newer version doesn't
work on potato, because it requires a newer libc. I don't care to
upgrade libc, and ssh is now broke
Actually, I found the problem, I didn't have them in my .muttrc file. I had
recieved a response moments after sending in my questions. thanks everyone.

I did a clean install with apache+jserv+gnujsp, and servlets work fine, but
the test file(s) like Hello.jsp fail, with the error:

just installed "slink". everything is ok, except that LILO is screwed. i
installed LILO in the MBR of hda1. when i reboot the computer, i can't see

As my main interest was in saving the monitor I accepted the suggestion
of setting the "BlankTime" in XF86Config.

also, I would normally use dselect and remove both the telnet and ftp
packages..
if you do not want to remove the packages, then remove from rcX.d the
scripts which fire up the daemons for ftp and telnet

Thanks for the advice. Someone posted having a look at /etc/default/RcS and
changing the MOTD to no. I did and that solved it. Having changed the
/etc/motd first, of course.
But Linuxconf should go anyway...

I just had this same problem minutes ago, but by doing a grep on /etc
for motd, I noticed that there is a variable called EDITMOTD in the
file rcS of /etc/default that is set to yes automatically.

I changed the default Message of the Day in Linuxconf and the MOTD file and
yet every time I reboot it defaults back to the same GNU/Linux Debian etc.
Where can I find a way to stop this?
