I upgraded initrd-tools and initrd-netboot-tools to the latest
versions available on unstable as of today. That'd be 0.1.77

I was able to install it without problems, and it also worked fine.
Maybe the reason is that my machine is not so powerfull (Pentium
MMX-233 MHz/192 MB RAM)?
What is oom-killer? What window manager do you use? What permissions
is your $HOME/GNUstep/ stuff?
