[SM-USERS] Yahoo Group e-mails not coming through
Hi, I'm having a problem with my Yahoo Groups. There are messages that are being posted (I can see this when I go to the webpage), but they're not getting to my inbox, here. I've double checked that they're using the right e-mail address and that it's set to send me the e-mails. Yahoo goups uses this thing where they mark the TO: address as to the group, not to my e-mail. Does Squirrelmail have a problem with this? Or is it a Yahoo problem? I used to get the messages fine at my other e-mail address. Does Squirrelmail have a > problem with this? Or is it a Yahoo problem? I used to get > the messages fine at my other e-mail address. > Hello Steff, One way to check to see if your messages are bouncing back to yahoo is to log into the group and try to post a message. If yahoo groups detects your email messages bouncing back, it won't let you post. Another thing to check is to see if your yahoo email account mailbox is full, this will cause problems. My wife had something similar happen to her, she didn't realize it was delivering messages to her yahoo mailbox as well. When her yahoo mailbox was full, it stopped sending her any messages. The TO: address should have nothing to do with it. Also, try setting your delivery options to plain text instead of HTML. If you have a virus content filter running on your mail server, it is possible that the messages are getting kicked off because of dangerous content. Sometimes their ads contain IFRAME tags, which cause many virus scanners to barf. Also, I believe that their new fancy web based HTML editor for outgoing messages constructs the email in such a way to get a false positive with a virus scanner. Take care, -- Waitman C. Whereas I would expect the field to be called 'Date:', the term 'X-te:' is used. The date itself is correct and in the right format. It looks like there is some sort of header replacement/overwrite that is putting "X-" on top of "Date". I'd have to dig around in the code to find it, but maybe Marc can comment faster? Marc? Ehmm, we do not write X-te headers. The location of the old smtp code is functions/smtp.php It's been a very very long time ago I looked at that file. SM 1.4 contains a rewritten class to send mail. Regards, Marc Groot Koerkamp (AKNA stekkel) Hey guys, thanks for all your help thus far. I have come a long way in discovering what the problem is and why emails sent from SM have a 'X-te' field instead of the date. I am running 1.2.10, but have confirmed the problem to still exist in 1.4.0. I am running on a win32 (win2k pro) platform with apache 1.3.27 and php 4.2.3 It would appear that in smtp.php, and where ever it has been moved to in 1.4.0, that there is a problem with the timezone() function call (line 327 in 1.2.10) When I remove the reference to timezone(), the problem disappears. i.e. $date = date("D, j M Y H:i:s ", mktime()) . timezone(); becomes $date = date("D, j M Y H:i:s ", mktime()); This would confirm what various mail clients are saying - they all complain about invalid date headers. I think the X-te was generated by mail server. So, does anyone know of any problems in using the timezone() function under win32? Am I the only one having this problem? To what extent does it matter if SM doesn't send the timezone stamp at the end of the date field? Finally, where does it get this timezone from? I presume that it is from the local (client) system, and not the web server, but can somebody please confirm this too. [SM-USERS] mail saving two copies to folders
One of my web hosting clients notified me of this. If they have a message in their inbox and send it to another folder, such as Trash or anything else, it is removed from the inbox, sent to the Trash. Correct. But when they go to look at the contents of Trash, there is TWO copies of that message there. Each time. I had 500 messages on this SPAM test account; sent all messages to Trash, and there were 1000 messages. (Loose example). [SM-USERS] Squirrelmail 1.4
Thanks to all of those people that have helped me so far. My current situation is: DBMail 1.1 Squirrelmail 1.4.0-1.7.x RedHat 7.2 DBMail appears to be successfully installed, as does squirrelmail, as I can successfully login to created accounts, and can successfully compose and send mail. Mail is successfully received into the database in DBMail, but I cannot read this mail in Squirrelmail. In addition, prior to sending any mail, I can successfully look at the folders and see them to be empty without any errors, however after sending a message, attempting to browse the sent folder results in: ERROR : Bad or malformed request. Query: Server responded: invalid UID command Received emails do not appear in the inbox. All other folder management works fine. Using Squirrelmail 1.2.11 everything works fine, as does Microsoft Outlook. I am therefore presuming that a additional functions (UID Commands?) are used in v1.4? ..some of which may not be IMAP4rev1?...or is it likely to be that DBMail v1.1 is not IMAP4rev1 (It claims it is!) I am a programmer, but have never really worked with PHP. If I can be of any assistance with the location of this particular problem, then I would be delighted to assist. If the mail isn't on the server, SquirrelMail simply cannot display it... plain and simple. SquirrelMail is just a client like Outlook, TheBat, Eudora, Pine, and the likes. Some providers have been known to block yahoo groups because of the high spam potential from that domain. Eudora and SquirrelMail would use them both depending on your setup. You could be running a POP3 and IMAP server reading the INBOX file, while both using Sendmail to send mail. Or you could have both SquirrelMail and Eudora configured to use IMAP. As suggested by Paul, check your configurations for both. Eudora shouldn't be interacting with SquirrelMail in any way at all. You might also consider elaborating on your PHP version. PHP4 is a little vague seeing as there is now 3 major branches of that, and several subsets of those. [SM-USERS] Bug within message threading and 'delete move next' plugin ?
First, my configuration : - Apache v1.3.27 - PHP v4.3.2-RC2 - SM v1.4.0 The following plugins are configured : -delete_move_next -message_details -squirrelspell -address_add -folder_sizes -get_uuencode -jump_to_folder -msg_flags -squirrel_logger -compatibility -timeout_user -unsafe_image_rules -variable_sent_folder -change_pass -filters In my inbox, say I've sorted it to show all messages in threaded mode. I then start reading a thread which looks like : -> Message 1 -> Message 2 -> Message 3 -> Message 4 -> Message 5 -> Message 6 First msg comes up fine, I then click 'Delete move next', and read the 2nd message without problems also. Click 'Delete move next' again, and now it completely jumps thread to another one. I've tested it with a couple of threaded discussions from the Qmail + Apache mailing lists with the same outcome usually, sometimes the thread jumps on message #3 instead. If however, I use the 'Next' button -- everything goes through properly, message 1 -> message 6 without problems, which I'd expect. Am I misunderstanding something, is it a bug ? Doesn't really matter to me, I use Mutt personally, and SM is for my users. Just saw it crop up when I was reading some email through the weekend. Unfortunately, I am unable to start removing the plugins and check one by one; the system is in production and I don't have a test play box to tinker with at the moment either. [SM-USERS] Upgrading Apache1 to Apache2 breaks SM on one virtual domain
Hi all, At the instance of some users, I (tried to) upgrade my Apache 1.3.26 (PHP 4.2.3 (not a typo); SM 1.2.7) to 2.0.46 (PHP 4.3.2 (not a typo!); SM 1.2.7). I have SM on 2 virtual domains - mail.dom1.com and mail.dom2.com; the machine's hostname is myname.dom1.com. After the upgrade attempt, the mail.dom1.com worked fine, but mail.dom2.com always gave the "You must be logged in to see this page". So, I upgraded SM to 1.4.0. Same thing. mail.dom1.com is fine and mail.dom2.com gives "You must be ...". Cutting back to Apache 1.3.26 (and leaving SM 1.4.0) makes everything fine again. With Apache 2.0.46 running, I can get into the mail.dom2.com page by typing myname.dom1.com/mail/dom2/ into the browser. So, the problem is with the Virtual Hosts in Apache, or in the session handlers in PHP, but I do not get any errors in my Apache or IMAP logs. Any ideas/suggestions? Re: [SM-USERS] Yahoo Group e-mails not coming through
I have an issue with Yahoo Groups caused by at least one user on one list. My sendmail detects them as coming from a relay host, so it bounces the e-mail. Yahoo then disables my e-mail address since it has received a hard bounce and I have to reactivate the account. Go to http://groups.yahoo.com/myprefs and look at the status and bounce history for your e-mail address. Again, this is not a squirrelmail issuem but may relate to your problem. -- Michael Brown Jon Angliss said: > Hello Steffi, > On Sunday, June 01, 2003, [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote... > >> I'm having a problem with my Yahoo Groups. RE: [SM-USERS] Yahoo Group e-mails not coming through
I also doubt this is a squirrel mail issue. I have a problem with one of my Yahoo groups causing my account to be deactivated because sendmail detects messages from one or more users on the list as being relay hosts. This causes a hard bounce and Yahoo promptly deactivates my address. You can check if this is happening at http://groups.yahoo.com/myprefs (E-Mail preference tab from mygroups). The status column will be normal if Yahoo says the account is active. The Bounce history will include the error from the last bounce. Hope this helps. -- Michael Brown Waitman C. I saw the thread over the weekend detailing a problem I'm fighting with Squirrelmail 1.4 - certain HTML emails are not displaying properly, instead showing up as text. It has been noted with some distributions, the locale files for that language must be on the system before gettext starts to work. [SM-USERS] Keep getting logged out at random (need help)
Hi, We have been trying Squirrel Mail for a while now (since the stable version 1.2.5 all the way up to 1.4.0). During this time we have tried IIRC PHP versions from 4.2.1 to 4.3.2, including a couple RC's. All through out these versions and some beta ones, our setup has always been unstable. The problem is that we keep getting logged out of the application at random. Some times one frame, other times the other, sometimes both. And then sometimes retrying on the still logged on frame, both frames would work again. In the last few days, we have gone deep into the problem to see if we could sort it out once and for all. * First off we tried to nail down the problem by reinstalling our PHP from scratch, making sure there was no forgotten change to the php.ini that could affect this behaviour. That didn't help. * Then we found googling that mm could have issues with sessions, so we recompiled php without mm support. No change. * We found several sessions files in the /tmp folder, and decided to create a specific folder for the sessions. No change. Though in this particular issue, are the sessions supposed to be that big? (50k - 100k) * We had the server under https, so we disabled it. No change. * We had the server under Solaris, moved it to our RedHat Linux box in a different host. No change. We don't know what else to try, and are keen to do any tests and give any information regarding settings in search of a solution. By the way, we have tried with a number of browsers and platforms, to take that out of the equation. We have also updated our Exim mail server to the latest version. Squirrel Mail is setup so that our users can use it for different domains. We host ols.es plus several other domains and people access it under the same address, i.e. https://ssl.ols.es/webmail, to read their mail, whatever their domain. With regards to the PHP settings, the session_autostart is set to on. Trans_id is set to off. We are keen on running any type of test to debug this. We are entirely at the disposal of anyone who wishes to help. We have set up a test account for anyone willing to help. The details are: https://ssl.ols.es/webmail and the username is 'squirrel.ols.es' and the password is 'mail'. The email address is [EMAIL PROTECTED] Please help us on this one. Is driving us mad.
