[SM-USERS] Yahoo Group e-mails not coming through

2003-06-02 Thread steffi
Hi,
I'm having a problem with my Yahoo Groups. There are messages that are
being posted (I can see this when I go to the webpage), but they're not
getting to my inbox, here. I've double checked that they're using the right
e-mail address and that it's set to send me the e-mails.

Yahoo goups uses this thing where they mark the TO: address as to the group,
not to my e-mail. Does Squirrelmail have a problem with this? Or is it a
Yahoo problem? I used to get the messages fine at my other e-mail address.

Thanks,
Steff

Yes. It's one of UW-IMAP's FAQs.

Configure your mail system to use a folder prefix, such as "mail". Make
sure mail gets delivered there too.

Hello Steff,

One way to check to see if your messages are bouncing back to yahoo is
to log into the group and try to post a message. If yahoo groups detects
your email messages bouncing back, it won't let you post. Another thing
to check is to see if your yahoo email account mailbox is full, this
will cause problems. My wife had something similar happen to her, she
didn't realize it was delivering messages to her yahoo mailbox as well.
When her yahoo mailbox was full, it stopped sending her any messages.

The TO: address should have nothing to do with it.

Also, try setting your delivery options to plain text instead of HTML.
If you have a virus content filter running on your mail server, it is
possible that the messages are getting kicked off because of dangerous
content. Sometimes their ads contain IFRAME tags, which cause many virus
scanners to barf. Also, I believe that their new fancy web based HTML
editor for outgoing messages constructs the email in such a way to get a
false positive with a virus scanner.

Take care,

[SM-USERS] Folders

2003-06-02 Thread Marius Kirschner
I'm trying to get folders that were created by the admin to show up under
the INBOX, and not having the users manually subscribe to them. I'm (still)
using 1.2 with CourierIMAP. Here are my settings:

Folder Defaults
1. Default Folder Prefix : INBOX.
2. Show Folder Prefix Option : false
3. Trash Folder : Trash
4. Sent Folder : Sent
5. Drafts Folder : Drafts
6. By default, move to trash : false
7. By default, move to sent : true
8. By default, save as draft : true
9. List Special Folders First: true
10. Show Special Folders Color: true
11. Auto Expunge : true
12. Default Sub. of INBOX : true
13. Show 'Contain Sub.' Option: false
14. Default Unseen Notify : 2
15. Default Unseen Type : 1
16. Auto Create Special Folders : true
17. Don't move folders into Trash : false
18. Enable /NoSelect folder fix : false

I thought by setting #12 to true that will enable them but that doesn't seem
to be the case??

 (AKNA stekkel)
Hey guys,

thanks for all your help thus far. I have come a long way in discovering
what the problem is and why emails sent from SM have a 'X-te' field
instead of the date.

I am running 1.2.10, but have confirmed the problem to still exist in
1.4.0. I am running on a win32 (win2k pro) platform with apache 1.3.27
and php 4.2.3

It would appear that in smtp.php, and where ever it has been moved to in
1.4.0, that there is a problem with the timezone() function call (line
327 in 1.2.10)

When I remove the reference to timezone(), the problem disappears.
i.e.
$date = date("D, j M Y H:i:s ", mktime()) . timezone();
becomes
$date = date("D, j M Y H:i:s ", mktime());
This would confirm what various mail clients are saying - they all
complain about invalid date headers. I think the X-te was generated by
mail server.

So, does anyone know of any problems in using the timezone() function
under win32? Am I the only one having this problem?

To what extent does it matter if SM doesn't send the timezone stamp at
the end of the date field?

Finally, where does it get this timezone from? I presume that it is from
the local (client) system, and not the web server, but can somebody
please confirm this too.

Many thanks,
Jeremy

[SM-USERS] mail saving two copies to folders

2003-06-02 Thread Michael W. Lasota
One of my web hosting clients notified me of this. If they have a message
in their inbox and send it to another folder, such as Trash or anything
else, it is removed from the inbox, sent to the Trash. Correct. But when
they go to look at the contents of Trash, there is TWO copies of that
message there. Each time.
I had 500 messages on this SPAM test account; sent all messages to Trash,
and there were 1000 messages. (Loose example).
We're using Linux Slackware, Courier IMAPD, Qmail 1.03, and the latest
SquirrelMail. Thanks for any help that can had from this. Any more
information required please let me know.

[SM-USERS] Squirrelmail 1.4

2003-06-02 Thread me
Thanks to all of those people that have helped me so far.

My current situation is:

DBMail 1.1
Squirrelmail 1.4.0-1.7.x
RedHat 7.2

DBMail appears to be successfully installed, as does squirrelmail, as I
can successfully login to created accounts, and can successfully
compose and send mail. Mail is successfully received into the
database in DBMail, but I cannot read this mail in Squirrelmail.

In addition, prior to sending any mail, I can successfully look at the
folders and see them to be empty without any errors, however after
sending a message, attempting to browse the sent folder results in:

ERROR : Bad or malformed request.
Query:
Server responded: invalid UID command

Received emails do not appear in the inbox. All other folder
management works fine.

Using Squirrelmail 1.2.11 everything works fine, as does Microsoft
Outlook.

I am therefore presuming that a additional functions (UID Commands?)
are used in v1.4? ..some of which may not be IMAP4rev1?...or is it
likely to be that DBMail v1.1 is not IMAP4rev1 (It claims it is!)

I am a programmer, but have never really worked with PHP. If I can be
of any assistance with the location of this particular problem, then I
would be delighted to assist.

Best regards

Peter

I think you'd need to modify the code in src/compose.php. Check the
section with the variable relating to MDN (I think it's $mdn or
something to that affect). You could remove the if statement, and
the confirm button, and automatically set it to send... or, add the
two variables at the top of the code (after all the sqgetGlobalVar
lines) and set them to automatically confirm.

Unless you're seeing the mail on the server with another client,
SquirrelMail doesn't care in the slightest. If the mail isn't on the
server, SquirrelMail simply cannot display it... plain and simple.
SquirrelMail is just a client like Outlook, TheBat, Eudora, Pine, and
the likes. Some providers have been known to block yahoo groups
because of the high spam potential from that domain. GMX is known for
that action as some people create groups for simple spamming purposes,
sign up a bunch of people, then mail the lists...

You should check with your provider, and yahoo groups themselves and
make sure the mails aren't being rejected there.

I'm not sure what you mean... are you trying to auto-subscribe to a
set folder list that the admin on the server created? If so, create a
script to edit the subscription file. This isn't really a SquirrelMail
issue, but a general IMAP one as the same would apply if using
Outlook, or Sylpheed for example.

Doesn't necessarily mean that the filter doesn't work... More recently
I've had a _lot_ of spam getting around spamassassin very easily,
which is rather annoying as I used to get nearly 100 pieces of spam a
day before deploying it, which dropped nicely to 1 a week, and is now
back up to 25 a week. Either the spammers are getting better, or the
method of catching them is starting to crumble.

As a method of testing, can you view some of the spam that got through
the spam filter, and verify that it would normally have been caught?

Hello!

Yes, I've tried that, and the same spam did not get caught even though I tried
filtering it with a second pass. BTW, Simon Bryan did mention however that
"SpamAssassin" needed to be installed before the SpamFilter functionality
included with 1.4.0 would work, and I have just set this up (spamassassin is
now running as daemon on the system). Still doesn't seem to work however on
my test spam. :|

Sendmail is an SMTP program. It's used to send mail. IMAP is used to
retrieve/display mail. Eudora and SquirrelMail would use them both
depending on your setup. You could be running a POP3 and IMAP server
reading the INBOX file, while both using Sendmail to send mail. Or you
could have both SquirrelMail and Eudora configured to use IMAP. As
suggested by Paul, check your configurations for both. Eudora
shouldn't be interacting with SquirrelMail in any way at all.

You might also consider elaborating on your PHP version. PHP4 is a
little vague seeing as there is now 3 major branches of that, and
several subsets of those. For example, I run PHP 4.2.3 on one server,
and PHP 4.3.1 on another.

Please in future remember to trim your replies too.

What are you settings for error_reporting and display_errors in your
php.ini file? Make sure that you have the display_errors to On, and
error_reporting to E_ALL, restart apache, and test again. Do you get
any error messages then? I'm still not trusting the PHP 4.3 branch as
they made a lot of major changes that seem to have been causing havoc
in general all over the place.

[SM-USERS] Bug within message threading and 'delete move next' plugin ?

2003-06-02 Thread Julian Gomez
First, my configuration :

- Apache v1.3.27
- PHP v4.3.2-RC2
- SM v1.4.0

The following plugins are configured :

-delete_move_next
-message_details
-squirrelspell
-address_add
-folder_sizes
-get_uuencode
-jump_to_folder
-msg_flags
-squirrel_logger
-compatibility
-timeout_user
-unsafe_image_rules
-variable_sent_folder
-change_pass
-filters

In my inbox, say I've sorted it to show all messages in threaded mode. I
then start reading a thread which looks like :

-> Message 1
   -> Message 2
  -> Message 3
 -> Message 4
-> Message 5
   -> Message 6

First msg comes up fine, I then click 'Delete move next', and read the 2nd
message without problems also. Click 'Delete move next' again, and now it
completely jumps thread to another one.

I've tested it with a couple of threaded discussions from the Qmail +
Apache mailing lists with the same outcome usually, sometimes the thread
jumps on message #3 instead.

If however, I use the 'Next' button -- everything goes through properly,
message 1 -> message 6 without problems, which I'd expect.

Am I misunderstanding something, is it a bug ? Doesn't really matter to me,
I use Mutt personally, and SM is for my users. Just saw it crop up when
I was reading some email through the weekend.

Unfortunately, I am unable to start removing the plugins and check one by
one; the system is in production and I don't have a test play box to tinker
with at the moment either.

Let me know if anyone needs further details.

I have noticed that some of the SPAM now sets itself up much better with respect to
spam filters - ie not all in caps and avoiding the words that the filters triger on.

I have not yet configured into SA the databases of known spammers (Razor??) maybe
that will help with the more sophisticated SPAM.

Watch a listing of 'top' on a terminal window while sending the test spam (using the
ones supplied with SA) see if spamc jumps up.
Also look at the Full Headers to see if SA is writing its info into there, it should
do this for every email.
Haven't got soemthing like [EMAIL PROTECTED] in your whitelist?

I am having the same issue on Redhat 8.0, Courier IMAP 1.7.3, Postfix 2.10
and the latest Squirrelmail. Haven't been able to work out why it is
happening.

Would also appreciate some ideas on resolution.

[SM-USERS] Upgrading Apache1 to Apache2 breaks SM on one virtual domain

2003-06-02 Thread Mike O'Rourke
Hi all,

At the instance of some users, I (tried to) upgrade my Apache 1.3.26
(PHP 4.2.3 (not a typo); SM 1.2.7) to 2.0.46 (PHP 4.3.2 (not a typo!);
SM 1.2.7). I have SM on 2 virtual domains - mail.dom1.com and
mail.dom2.com; the machine's hostname is myname.dom1.com.

After the upgrade attempt, the mail.dom1.com worked fine, but
mail.dom2.com always gave the "You must be logged in to see this page".
So, I upgraded SM to 1.4.0. Same thing. mail.dom1.com is fine and
mail.dom2.com gives "You must be ...". Cutting back to Apache 1.3.26
(and leaving SM 1.4.0) makes everything fine again.

With Apache 2.0.46 running, I can get into the mail.dom2.com page by
typing myname.dom1.com/mail/dom2/ into the browser. So, the problem is
with the Virtual Hosts in Apache, or in the session handlers in PHP, but
I do not get any errors in my Apache or IMAP logs.

Any ideas/suggestions?

Thanks, Mike.

Re: [SM-USERS] Yahoo Group e-mails not coming through

2003-06-02 Thread Michael Brown
I have an issue with Yahoo Groups caused by at least one user on one list.
My sendmail detects them as coming from a relay host, so it bounces the
e-mail. Yahoo then disables my e-mail address since it has received a
hard bounce and I have to reactivate the account. Go to
http://groups.yahoo.com/myprefs and look at the status and bounce history
for your e-mail address.

Again, this is not a squirrelmail issuem but may relate to your problem.

RE: [SM-USERS] Yahoo Group e-mails not coming through

2003-06-02 Thread Michael Brown
I also doubt this is a squirrel mail issue.

I have a problem with one of my Yahoo groups causing my account to be
deactivated because sendmail detects messages from one or more users on
the list as being relay hosts. This causes a hard bounce and Yahoo
promptly deactivates my address. You can check if this is happening at
http://groups.yahoo.com/myprefs (E-Mail preference tab from mygroups).
The status column will be normal if Yahoo says the account is active. The
Bounce history will include the error from the last bounce.

Hope this helps.

[SM-USERS] HTML mail messed up, MIME-Version header present

2003-06-02 Thread H. Wade Minter
I saw the thread over the weekend detailing a problem I'm fighting with
Squirrelmail 1.4 - certain HTML emails are not displaying properly,
instead showing up as text.

One of the answers seemed to be that if an HTML email was missing the
MIME-Version header, the email wouldn't display. However, I've got an
HTML mail from the Weather Channel that's not displaying, even though it's
got those headers.

Here are the relevant headers from the mail - does anyone have any
suggestions?

Even if you have [EMAIL PROTECTED] in your whitelist, SA still tags the mail, just
adds a large negative number to the results to offset the bad tagged
mail.

Then I'd have to run the script on each user. I was hoping there is a way

what the problem is.I guess a script is the only way to go. Thanks,

The online help isn't translated on the fly like the rest of the pages
are. The help system comes prebuilt with certain languages, while the
rest of the pages get passed through gettext. It has been noted with
some distributions, the locale files for that language must be on the
system before gettext starts to work. You might want to consult your
distribution's help system, and find out how to install the locales
for the languages you wish to use. You might also want to check and
make sure gettext is installed.

[SM-USERS] Failure in delete_move_next

2003-06-02 Thread Linux Doctor
Hello all.

I sometimes get a "Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in
/usr/share/squirrelmail/plugins/delete_move_next/setup.php on line 64"
when moving a mail from one box to another. Is this something in my
imeplementation? It doesn't happen all the time. Maybe this should be a
"plugin list" question but this plugin comes standard with SM distro.
Thanks! Neall

SM 1.4.0, Apache 2.0, PHP 4.2, Redhat 9, up-imapproxy-1.1.5,
phpaccelerator1.3.3r2.

[SM-USERS] Keep getting logged out at random (need help)

2003-06-02 Thread Jose
Hi,

We have been trying Squirrel Mail for a while now (since the stable version
1.2.5 all the way up to 1.4.0). During this time we have tried IIRC PHP
versions from 4.2.1 to 4.3.2, including a couple RC's. All through out these
versions and some beta ones, our setup has always been unstable. The problem
is that we keep getting logged out of the application at random. Some times
one frame, other times the other, sometimes both. And then sometimes
retrying on the still logged on frame, both frames would work again.

In the last few days, we have gone deep into the problem to see if we could
sort it out once and for all.

 * First off we tried to nail down the problem by reinstalling our PHP from
scratch, making sure there was no forgotten change to the php.ini that could
affect this behaviour. That didn't help.

 * Then we found googling that mm could have issues with sessions, so we
recompiled php without mm support. No change.

 * We found several sessions files in the /tmp folder, and decided to create
a specific folder for the sessions. No change. Though in this particular
issue, are the sessions supposed to be that big? (50k - 100k)

 * We had the server under https, so we disabled it. No change.

 * We had the server under Solaris, moved it to our RedHat Linux box in a
different host. No change.

We don't know what else to try, and are keen to do any tests and give any
information regarding settings in search of a solution. By the way, we have
tried with a number of browsers and platforms, to take that out of the
equation.

We have also updated our Exim mail server to the latest version.

Squirrel Mail is setup so that our users can use it for different domains.
We host ols.es plus several other domains and people access it under the
same address, i.e. https://ssl.ols.es/webmail, to read their mail, whatever
their domain.

With regards to the PHP settings, the session_autostart is set to on.
Trans_id is set to off. We are keen on running any type of test to debug
this. We are entirely at the disposal of anyone who wishes to help.

We have set up a test account for anyone willing to help. The details are:
https://ssl.ols.es/webmail and the username is 'squirrel.ols.es' and the
password is 'mail'. The email address is [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Please help us on this one. Is driving us mad. Thanks,

Jose
