Sendmail is an SMTP program. It's used to send mail. IMAP is used to
retrieve/display mail. Eudora and SquirrelMail would use them both
depending on your setup. You could be running a POP3 and IMAP server
reading the INBOX file, while both using Sendmail to send mail. Or you
could have both SquirrelMail and Eudora configured to use IMAP. As
suggested by Paul, check your configurations for both. Eudora
shouldn't be interacting with SquirrelMail in any way at all.

You might also consider elaborating on your PHP version. PHP4 is a
little vague seeing as there is now 3 major branches of that, and
several subsets of those. For example, I run PHP 4.2.3 on one server,
and PHP 4.3.1 on another.
