that above prescription is what I did, ( i think)
but was/still am confused because
I see 3 (4?) identical lines for the Intel nic
and 3 tcp/ip binding lines
first i just tried modifying the properties on one of the tcp/ip
lines
no effect, finally tried modifying all 3 identically still no help
I am not sure how these 3 identical lines for intel nic got put in
nor the 3 tcp/ip binding line
Possibly caused by me in my inexpert following of w98 gui things
trying to get networking setup.
On the other hand maybe impacted by how w98 is setup with
3 different hardware profiles:
This dual boot w98 -rhat6.2 was installed for me as part of
a vmware for linux package (by pogo.com)
Their linux install seems perfect, and i had no trouble
getting the networking going from linux
But the w98 vmware stuff is tricky
1) There is a hardware profile for booting w98 natively
what I am trying to get going now
2)There is also a hardware profile for running w98 under linux thru
vmware
3)and there is a 3d hardware profile for backup in case things get
trashed by picking the wrong hardware profile on boot up of w98
sorry for rambling on about this, but just maybe it is part of
my trouble....
and, in case it isnt obvious, I had hopes of steering
my wife's use of windows to be exclusivelythru the linux vmware
.... maybe, if can get all this initial junk sorted out...
thanks for response
Jack
