Adam, Happy to work on snakeyaml and possibly the other popular JDBC drivers. I use PostgreSQL almost exclusively so I hadn't had the opportunity to look for any of the others but you are right, it appears we don't have any other ones in the ports tree.
Here is an updated tarball with the pkg-readme that I think should cover what you are suggesting.
