I don't have a K10 to do comparisons with, but everything I've seen on this list indicates that the *ist-D/Ds have better noise performance at 3200 than the K10D has at 1600. What is the major difference, the size of the sensor sites. Even at 12mp a 1.3x crop sensor will have sites larger than the K10D and as large or larger than those on the *ist D/Ds.
