I bought Wendy's *ist DS for my wife.  It took a full 25 days to reach me.  
This was using CandaPost expedited mail (whatever that means)... and we are 
on the same continent.

We both thought it was lost or stolen and Wendy sent me a refund check which 
arrived several days after the camera did, and which I subsequently tore to 
smithereens.

I've also had equipment shipped from a private seller in New York take two 
weeks to reach me when it was guaranteed for 3 days.

I agree $500.  That was the amount he wished to insure it for.
