I'd like to modify Francis' question a bit if no one objects, as I'm in a similar situation. I've been weighing the D vs. DS. For the price of the D body, I can get a DS and a decent lens, such as the DA 16-45/f4. So it comes down to this: Do those of you who own a DS ever find yourself wanting a D, and do those of you with the D feel you could live with the DS? Why?
The D has a couple of features that I wish the DS had, but I went for the DS due to its nicer size, shape and price. The features I'd like added are small things and not a huge concern to me, really. Wireless flash would be convenient, I can live without it. HyperProgram is another convenience, but I don't find myself using such things that much. The grip doesn't appeal to me. A selectable C-AF would be good, but again I haven't even used Sports mode more than once as yet.
The DS' improved speed, SD cards, and overall feel/controls are very satisfying.
