That's incorrect. Perspective is a function of the distance between the subject and the camera. If you want the perspective you're used to with a 28mm lens on 24x36mm film, you need to use an 18mm lens with 16x24mm sensor. That's all.


The only other difference is that DoF with the smaller format is increased by about 1.5 f/numbers for the same field of view ... that is, for a given lens, what the DoF scale indicates for f/11 with a 35mm camera, is achieved at between f/5.6-8 with the 16x24 format.
