'Hidden' pertains to the room's visibility, while I tend to think of
'Private' more tied to the 'Members-Only' sense.

I think there's a subtle conflict between these:
- Hidden Room / Public Room
- Members-Only Room / Open Room

'Public' could also work as an antonym of 'Members-Only', so I'd
suggest removing the ambiguity by renaming 'Public Room' to 'Visible
Room'.

What about 'Volatile' or simply 'Non-Persistent'; I think both
'Temporary' and 'Transient' are inaccurate.

@stpeter: 'Unsecured' to 'Unprotected' sounds right to me.
