Review Comment: ok, i see it digging more. this is a bit strange to pad postings files with kilobytes of data just for the purpose: I'm a little worried it might hide all bugs (e.g. the infamous "Read EOF"). have you experimented with indexInRange (VectorMask)? Maybe try it on AVX-512 or ARM SVE that supports it in hardware and see if it works just as well without this padding.
