Review Comment:
   Forget about borders. There is one border every gigabyte before java 19. 
After Java 19 there's a border every 16GiB.
   
   And NIOFSDirectory is not optimized anymore in your code. And also there it 
is not the biggest problem. The problem why it was slow is most llikely caused 
by the capturing lambda
