I've actually noticed it before as well although i don't remember then COMPLAINING. :) different between mention/notice and complain. didums. delete the files if they bother you. :) > I've not been particularly bothered by it. I also know one task which > makes me regularly switch to a different DE, recompiling E17 ;). I do eh? now that's utterly bizarre. i have never done this in 12+ years of working on e. i recompile and install live while e runs and then just "ctlr+alt+end" to restart e. every time. on the odd occasion there's been a hiccup - but thats known as certain incompatible code changes were made... but i have never changed. a recompile takes about 5-10 mins (i have mine scripted and yes - it's only compiling the core needed for e17, and the rebuld re-run the autogen scripts thus take a bit longer than they would just running configure). > think that it can leave a bit of a bad impression for a user if he tries > out E but goes back to Gnome, resulting in him complaining on > some forum or the other about E not being ready... However I think this > is really _very_ low priority. BTW what is the way gnome/kde do this? they add these in memory when scanning hal and config then placing virtual icons. e's fm only handles real icons mapped to real files - adding virtual ones will be a pita, so its much easier to drop real icon files there and re-use the entire "real file handling" for this. it emans peolpe got their desktop icons quickly and they work and work reliably. -- ------------- Codito, ergo sum - "I code, therefore I am" -------------- The Rasterman (Carsten Haitzler) [email protected] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Let Crystal Reports handle the reporting - Free Crystal Reports 2008 30-Day trial.
