I get the point, but IMHO a version number should be used for  
userfriendliness, such as in virtually all other software projects  
around. The revision number should be there as well (as in Windows'  
build number), but it should not be used alone. People _want_ a  
version number, so sticking to revisions alone is far too nerdish,  
and will make it harder to get new users, and thus developers into  
the project
