Anyway, after running the command to install the 470 driver things seem to be working OK with 6.8. I didn't actually try to install the driver after reverting back to that kernel.
I'm quite new to this (only been using Linux since March, I think, after only using Windows 11 for 4 months before getting sick of it), but you might say I was a little scarred from trying to install 470 on the 6.14.0-24 generic build. It was broken completely. Video performance seems stable now. Thanks for your help. Again, hopefully someone figures out what went wrong with the 6.14 bla bla bla update. When I installed that driver, it did give that pesky error for the 6.15 build saying there is a post install error in bin / something else / something else, so something has clearly gone awry there somewhere with these newer kernel versions. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2117509 Title: Resolution set to default and no audio on standard propriatery, tested driver.
