the /var/log/kern.log file was very long and a bit confusing to me
the last 2 snapshots show the panic when booting in to console mode(the
first 2 show upstart freezing when it panics...). Is there any other
information i can provide that might help?

I tryed to do as Uzzi said:
Remove hal --->sudo /etc/init.d/dbus restart ---> install hal
but that did not work. I was able to remove hal and I was able to
restart dbus but then, when I tryed to install hal I got the same
problem as above::
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ sudo apt-get install hal
Reading
a while back the problem 'randomly' disappeared for me. Do others still
have this problem? and no I am/was not using compiz; and i am/was using
kde3 not kde4.
