for me, changing the print shortcut to some thing else and then back to
the print key temporally solved it untill i rebooted the system. after
that the problem returned.

for me after changing the shortcut completely(to shift+print) has solved
the problem for me.

I have not tried leaving it 'messed up' and then rebooting.

wannes, have you modified your xorg.conf at all? mine has sections
modified relating to the Keyboard input stuff(this was to work around
another bug related to my fingerprint reader)?
