ok. so I am pretty sure that the problem with the fan was when i was useing the nvidia 177 driver. and the above problem where the system does not resume from ram(at all; never arrrrr!!) _was_ with-out _any_ nvidia drivers(i guess the nv driver???). it always would resume with a black screen every time.
