I have just upgraded with kernel 2-6.27-10 64 bits on Intrepid and again the
same (no update !) ov51x-jpeg package does not compile. Here is what I get with
command make :

applications that use a microphone ; here is a fix that does not make sense but
works to re-establish microphone on jaunty 64 bits X2 with hda Intel built in

The trick proposed by David Travis worked for me though looking at it it does
make sense (no reason to mute Front Mic at 100 % level) ; now I can use Skype
and Audacity with a microphone ; all this is not really satisfactory ; here are
a few remarks :
(1) I use as proposed by David gnome-volume-
A fix with sound settings with gnome-volume-control not really
satisfactory but that works has been proposed but this settings through
gnome-volume-control (either in Gnome or KDE) is not kept when gnome-
volume-control is closed or between sessions.
Not diagnosed yet but now I can use Skype.

channels" in Kmix to bring settings for microphone input ; now I can
manage full sound settings with Kmix with microphone ; if I open gnome-

Regarding the test it is second priority compared to the need to change my SATA
HD if a harware problem can only explain the error messages reported ; I will
do once this issue is resolved or at least diagnosed

Bingo : it is actually my drive IOMEGA IDE that I have recovered on an old
computer and installed in an empty slot in my computer that is the problem ; I
will remove it as I do not use it ;

Still with KDE-4.3RC3 with a re-installed Ubuntu Jackalope 64 bit machine I do
not have any display ; basically for me since KDE 4 I have never seen it
running properly ; can anyone help me to get this fixed by colloaborating ?

L confirm this freezing bug with another screensaver "Lattice" ; surprisingly
it shows-up after a long while either on KDE testing feature or with automatic
triggering ; no way no regain control of computer when this bug shows up.
