I have tried to execute the same "alsa-info.sh" on the other 64 bits (with
jaunty) machine where my mike works with Audacity but I got this :

found
/home/dmoyne/Documents/clotûre/alsa-info.sh: line 163: alsactl:: command not
found
cat: /tmp/alsa-info.dFBcFsopGx/alsactl.tmp: No such file or directory
Uploading information to www.alsa-project.org ... Done!
So amixer is not installed but what is more intriguing is that "alsactl"
is not installed either and it works ; th pupose of this test is to
compare outputs of script on both machines, but now the question is
which components of alsa are needed to get pulse audio working (with
mike).
Shouls I pusrur this lead or wait on diagnostic from previously sent script
output wehreI experience my mike problems.
