While the bug has still not been fixed, the issue of Nautilus spawning
multiple windows initially reported no longer occurs. A crash report is
not generated either.

contains only "Empty File".
As a new Linux user, it seems silly to have the means to quickly create a new
document, only to find an empty "New Document" or "New Document 2" file on the

I have a two (2) CD Drives neither of which I am able to use. I insert a
CD disc (many types, brands tried) which results in nothing at all. Not
notification of new media found, no new drives listed under "Places"
menu, nothing.

Jaunty 9.04 alpha 3, updated as of yesterday. No changes made with
regards to services and startup applications.
Additional software added from repo's: O.O Base, Virtualbox, Banshee,
CCSM and Conky. Uninstalled Rhythmbox.
Looked at Sys Monitor while runnining lshal --monitor earlier: status=sleep
Ok I had the though to try the above with the DVD Drive connected. I ran
lshal --monitor with the following result;
Start monitoring devicelist:

storage.removable.media_available = true

This time I inserted a disk and tried to open "CD Media" under Places
menu with the following message;
Failed to execute child process "sound-juicer" (No such file or
directory)
Confirmed in Synaptic: Sound-Juicer is NOT installed. I do not believe
that it was uninstalled with Rhythmbox as I expe
Sound-Juicer installed with no change. Problem still remains

As of today a fresh install using the original alpha CD...
Drives are now mountable, and disks can be read.
Still receive the sound-juicer error mentioned above, and now have two Audio
Drive icons on the desktop.
Install is no different to the first; same partitions have been used without
any cha

Bookmarks are retained, however preferences such as auto-scroll and home-page
are lost on Firefox close and subsequent restarts

It is very heartening to see this discussion continue. I assumed from
some of the responses that a decision in this regard had been reached,
and the umpires decision was final. Not so!
To the point, and as an early commenter on this I agree wholeheartedly
with Lonnie: 2009-11-12 and that viewpoint
I would be happy if I was able to drop a shortcut or launcher into the
folder. Would this not be the easiest fix?
