When packages are uninstalled and the 'auto-removable' option appears on the
left, synaptic will allow you to select the remnants of the package and select
'completely remove package'. However, the 'Apply' option remains grayed out in
the tool bar.
Note also that if you choose to close synaptic at this point, there is no
'disregard marked changes' warning.
