I updated xorg-xserver-video-intel to 2.7 today and haven't had any

Unfortunately I was wrong, I still get these flashes even with xserver-
xorg-video-intel 2.7. They seemed to get better but today they are back.
Even with metacity window manager.

why, but it's probably because of the gmail server (they have a lot of
data!) and because of security checks. Launchpad also takes longer to
load because it's a secure connection. So I'm not sure if this is a

things in ccsm). In my case, the terminal was on the upper left side of
the screen, with no title bar. The title bar appeared e.g. if I moved

Here, I will attach a screenshot, I had a terminal running under
metacity and then forced compiz, which is the same result as running
terminal in autostart. If I drag the terminal window down using ALT,
then the window title bar appears, almost like it was hidden under the
panel (see screenshot).
Just tested and the problem still persists for me in jaunty. Prelink is
no problem but preload breaks the automatic login.

I am not a lawyer but I think that Dell is responsible here. Ubuntu
usually installs flawlessly if you do it yourself from a live CD or a
USB flash drive. That means that Dell screwed it up and not Ubuntu.

Scid 3.7.1 is out now. I compiled it myself and it's a vast improvement
over the other versions. Would be great if this would make it into the
repos.

Btw, I currently have deluge installed from the official ppa archive but
it's also suggested by cruft remover to be removed. This is something I
don't understand. I think it should not suggest to remove packages just
because I downloaded them from an "unofficial" archive.

Aha, I just noticed that cruft remover suggests to remove a package if
you downloaded it from an archive and then remove that later from your
sources, eg:
1) add the deluge ppa to your sources
2) install deluge-torrent (then deluge-torrent is not considered cruft at that
point)
3) now remove the

It happened to me a handful of times in the last weeks that I have
(approximately) firefox, gnome-terminal, and amarok running, I leave the
computer for a while so the screensaver starts ... then I come back, move the
mouse, and I see the desktop wallpaper but nothing else!
OK, this was more like a theme problem than an emacs problem, so I set
this to invalid.
