To fix the problem about libRblas.so, an unmodified re-compilation of
RKWard 0.4.9-2 will suffice. This is because the configuration script
auto-detects wether or not libRblas.so is available to link against at
build time.

The "stats" package is a part of a basic R installation. It seems to be

Thanks. This is only a mostly empty "dummy" library, though. The main
binary is /usr/bin/rkward.bin. Just type rkward on a regular console to
(try to) start it (chances are, it won't work in your installation due
to bug #221399).

> rkward has not been rebuilt with this new version of r-base, could
this be at the root of this problem?
I *think* rkward will not start at all unless it is rebuilt (see bug
#221399; libRblas.so is no longer included in r-base-core 2.6.2), so
this should be a different issue. On the other hand, I
@Cesare: Yes, that patch is what addresses the lockup issue. This issue
is a race-condition, and generally ocurrs during startup, only (if at
all). On some systems it appears to be triggered much more frequently
than on others. For the vast majority of users it never showed up or
only rarely (but o
In Debian sid (i386), rkward 0.4.9a-1 has these dependencies (likely to
differ from ubuntu in a number of details):

libc6 (>= 2.7-1),
The current plan is to include 0.5.0b in Debian soonishly, after 0.4.9a
has entered testing (and maybe a short wait after that).
If you would like to go ahead in Ubuntu earlier, that's perfectly fine
with me. You really don't need to wait for my OK in any way.

In R 2.7 - when built with cairo support - the X11 device can use cairo
for graphics output. In fact, this is the default. RKWard benefits from
this automatically when used with R 2.7, so I see no reason to
explicitely use the cairo device in RKWard. Closing the report.

True, but if you look closely, this is not really a problem in the

Frankly, I'm not familiar with how this needs t

could you please, please, please forward stuff like this upstream in the

/usr/LOCAL/bin/rkward? My first guess is that you have an out-of-date
manual installation left on that machine, and it's simply earlier in the
path than the karmic package. Could you check that / move the old
installation out of the way?

RKWard in the official intrepid and jaunty archives is riddled with

who would be able to do so.
