It's even worse, I think.
I installed kweather in 8.10, but the option to look at the weather
doesn't even exist in the kontact summary (before, when I originally
reported this bug, I believe that the option was present, IIRC but it
simply didn't work).
(I logged out and back in. No difference.)

The day of the jaunty release was the first time that I had used this
computer in a couple of months. It did download something like 100+MB of
updates (to intrepid) that had accumulated since I last used it.

I have seen occasional reports of Klipper interfering with clipboard
operations in applications. Since Klipper seems to be installed and used
by default in hardy Kubuntu, I just checked to see if this bug still
occurs even if Klipper is not running. It *does*. So this does seem to
be an OOo problem
With the debugging library enabled, I get a crash the instant that I try
to save a calendar containing a recurring to-do; so I'm not sure whether
this is the same bug or another one. I have tried to save the calendar
several times, and this happens each time:

One reaches the "Crypto Settings" tab from the "Edit Contact" dialogue.
The place to enter the key is no longer greyed out. So that's good.
BUT
if one tries to select a key (which is now possible), the button choices
are labelled "Start C

Yes, I know how to do it. My principal point, though, is that in general
one doesn't bother installing debug symbols for a particular application
until after one's had a crash -- which is too late.
The ideal time to make the decision to install debug libraries would be
during system installation.
It'll be my turn to make the same comment for karmic.
LM is a simply wonderful font family. I've published several books using
it. I'm surprised that no one else seems to care that it can't be used
in OOo.

1. mount.gmailsfs needs to be in /sbin. (This is discussed earlier in
this thread.)
2. The error
Incidentally, I am using dapper. (My attempt to upgrade to edgy was a
disaster :-) ) So if this is fixed, I request that it be backported to
dapper.

Which dapper backports?
In my sources.list I have:

but synaptic says that 0.1.4-2build1 is the latest
BTW, I running amd64. Maybe it's not been backported to that
architecture? (There does seem a tendency in Kubuntu to forget about
building 64-bit packages :-( )

I am seeing this too (dapper amd64 with all current patches).
At some time in the past, I know that USB drives worked fine on this
machine (probably the last time I tries was about six months ago), but
now the system is simply ignoring them.
In the past hour I have tried three different USB drive
I probably wasn't sufficiently clear about excatly which symptoms I am
seeing.
Specifically:
no error or other messages in /var/log/messages
no recognition that a USB drive has been inserted into a USB port
lsusb hangs (forever), and cannot be aborted with ctrl-C
