Ok. (My workload varies.) I now have a machine with Hardy Heron.
As far as I can tell, fsck.hfsplus works there as well. Below is my

I gave feedback earlier that the problem seemed to have
gone away after an update with some packages, but it didn't.
My sons only told me later that they typically boot 2 or 3 times
until it doesn't freeze. The reboots can only be performed with
the power button (hard reboot).

Here's what I did to trigger the problem:
Logged in to KDE
Noticed that the time was an hour out
Went to adjust date/time in the panel/clock menu
Set time to adjust automatically and timezone to Europe/Londo
Actually the error condition seemed to be a bit erratic - I got the
error again even after somehow managing to su - but then a reboot seems
to have fixed it.

I do have the t410 with the nVidia GPU. I experience the faulty USB-
behaviour after resume from suspend with the actual 2.6.32-22 Kernel. I
also installed the new 2.6.34 mainline build. But this won't even boot.
The initrd stops after 0.65s without any error message. Any idea? Maybe

Alt+Tab works, Shift+Alt+Tab does not.
Turning off visual effects fixes the problem.

I was able to solve this problem in two ways:
1. I compiled the Ubuntu kernel source by following this
tutorial:https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Kernel/Compile and using the
Method B) for receiving the source. Before I started compiling I applied
the patch Alex had posted in #18.

fully. In the system window I run those commands. Then what? How to I tell
it what to retrieve and where to put it etc, all the stuff specified in the
GUI interface?
